Choosing a School
Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision. We hope that the information on our website gives an insight into our small, friendly academy.
Hockering is a small, rural village academy with a friendly community atmosphere. As a Church of England academy, Hockering has a distinctive character which makes the academy a place of Christian love and care where all are welcomed and included.
As a member of the Trinity Federation of Church Academies, we have worked in partnership with Great Witchingham Primary, and St Peters, Easton Church Academies. We benefit from their additional skills, strengths and experiences, as well as being able to share resources, as well as our governing body and head teacher.

As a small school of around 41 pupils, the children at Hockering are taught in two classes as follows:
|Butterfly Class||Reception / Years 1 / 2|
|Fox Class||Years 3 - 6|
Our class organisation as a small school has a number of advantages:
- Members of staff get to know each child extremely well
- Children are seen as individuals and work is adapted to suit each child’s ability
- There is a ‘family’ atmosphere, often lacking in larger schools
- Younger children look up to the older ones and raise their standard accordingly
- Older children take responsibility for the younger ones
